Situation Analysis

1. We conducted a value chain analysis and re-examined our core business

• Helping our clients to quickly locate and secure the absolute best candidate for their needs at the lowest cost, whether those candidates are to be contracted to them over time or hired directly.

2. We took a good hard look at the process of interfacing with our customers and suppliers to determine:

• What redundancies existed with our customers (and suppliers) that added cost and questionable value?
• Was each of us doing only those things that our organizations did exceptionally well?
• Were there opportunities to share roles and tools that would make the process less expensive, faster, better?

3. We asked our customers and suppliers about their needs and concerns and they both said:

• Economic pressures have dramatically reduced their internal recruiting capacity
• The economy and technology has flooded their recruiters with so many resumes from active job seekers that finding a good talent match has become like looking for a drop in the ocean.
• Customers who had internally managed the entire recruiting process now felt this approach is increasingly inefficient and an outmoded business model.
• The drastic reduction in the overall number of open positions and placements means that even the most efficient agencies find their leanest overhead costs are still resulting in higher per transaction costs.

Conclusions and Action

We took a step back and used a holistic approach, we realized that by sharing this easy to use system with our customers and suppliers in the recruiting and staffing business we could address all of the above issues and concerns they had raised. Not only would this make our interactions easier, it would eliminate redundancies and allow us to reduce overall costs and share in other benefits as well.
